Peony Delight

By Lucinda A. Wurdinger Katie Winegar  -  June 30th, 2018

Peonies are one of my favorite springtime flowers.  They are the first large bold flower to come alive in the garden in early spring.  Peony's bloom early, mid and late Spring Season.  The gorgeous coral shades bloom first in early Spring.  Then the yellow, pinks, maroon and white shades follow.

This year I got a chance to visit Adelman's Peony Garden located in Brooks, Oregon.  It was a delightful visit.  I was able to see up close all of the many beautiful peony varieties in the f...

During the beautiful summer months of July and August there is hardly a single place you could go in or around the city of Silverton, Oregon and not smell and see the amazing aroma and colors of the lavender fields.

When I think of lavender the first thing that comes to mind is the beautiful, vibrant purple color.  If you are taking a country drive on the backroads of Silverton, Oregon, you will see this color all around.

Lavender is not only a gorgeous flower to add to any b...

Mother's Day Excitement

By Lucinda Wurdinger-Kelly  -  May 3rd, 2016

Working in the floral Industry for many years and reflecting on my childhood, I could never really understand what all of the hype and excitement surrounding Mother’s Day was all about, for me it was a Day to celebrate Mother’s but not being a Mother myself it was not a sentimental holiday.  I did always wish my mom a happy Mother’s Day with a phone call, gift, card, or a visit.

I grew up in a large family, Mom, Dad and my nine siblings, twelve of us all together.  My birthing order was the f...

Easter Blessings

By Abigail Tamayo  -  March 24th, 2016

A man, who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act.

~Mahatma Gandhi~

My favorite parts of Easter are, first and foremost reflecting on the death and resurrection of Jesus, all He has done for us, and all the beautiful spring flowers blooming! Easter is about love, thankfulness and sacrifice, we are thankful for everything the Lord has do...

Flower Symbolism

By Jallyn Shepherd  -  July 1st, 2015

I have always admired flowers from afar, my whole life I thought they were beautiful and worthwhile. Not long ago I started working at Valley Pacific Floral Inc. Each day I gave the opportunity to work up close with the finest and most beautiful flowers. My first challenge, being new to the flower industry, was to get to know the flowers and all their names. Upon studying and spending time in the flower shop I found that I really enjoy being around flowers for more than just the pleasant smell a...
